As summer approaches, so does the fantastic festival season that is so unique to Minnesota. Dozens of small towns host special events, oftentimes lasting a week, to celebrate their unique histories. Visiting these festivals is a great way to get better connected with your state and your community. Additionally, local businesses, artists, and volunteers all work together to put these events on, so it’s a great opportunity to network and support the local economy.
Our clients are probably the most familiar with Northfield’s Defeat of Jesse James Days, a festival celebrating the take-down of the James-Younger Gang at Northfield’s bank. This festival is towards the end of the season (September 9-13), but we encourage Northfield residents (and all Minnesotans) to visit other communities and get connected. Head to the Explore Minnesota website for dates and locations of all the best summer events.
A question for Northfield’s community members–specifically our clients: How are you going to get involved with the 2015 DJJD? Volunteering your time, money, space, expertise, or products are all great ways to give back to the community that supports you.
