Promoting Workplace Health and Safety

Avoid clutter – In warehouse spaces and other specific work environments, clutter can be quite dangerous. To avoid slips, trips, and falls, make sure that everything is put in its place.

Use the right tools and techniques – When climbing up high, substitute dangerous chairs for the more appropriate step ladder. If your employees spend extended time at a desk, be sure their chairs and desks are ergonomically friendly. Those employees who consistently lift heavy boxes should be trained to avoid back injury. You get the idea.

Check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors regularly – Though this seems tedious, you’ll be grateful you did when they do their jobs properly.

Take regular breaks – Getting up from your desk is a great way to not only refresh yourself and be more productive, it can also help improve circulation.

Check your lighting and ventilation – These simple environmental factors can strongly affect employee health. Poor lighting can cause eye strain and migraines, and ventilation is key to protecting against allergies.
