Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) is an international member association for the risk management industry. They have 46 chapters around the world, and 600 volunteers. They offer one of two certifications in the industry. They provide many services such as networking, training, certificate and certification programs, and more. They provide all the support for people who are financial risk managers.
We recently had the opportunity to connect with Kristin Lucas — who is PRMIA’s Managing Director of Operations and works out of their headquarters located in Northfield, MN. She oversees the staff here, their CEO is in Washington DC, and they have other staff scattered around the country, London, and Romania.
How did you get involved in the industry?
Kristin has been working for PRMIA for 7 years. She was originally brought in to run some of the chapters since her background is in project management.
What kind of services does your business offer?
“If someone is looking to get into the field of risk management, they come to us for training and to network. We can really help them in all stages – we like to say we take people from the cradle to the pinnacle of their career. We also offer mentoring programs for people both advanced and new in their career.”
Where do you see the business going in the future?
“We are looking to expand our community more globally. In some areas of the world we have a great presence and active members, and we’d like to expand our reach. Right now the United States and Europe are our two largest membership areas.”
Tell us about the space your business is located in:
“We moved here in July of 2017, and it really is the perfect space for us. It has individual offices for privacy, but also has lots of open space for meetings and collaborating. It is also very bright and sunny which we all enjoy!”
If people want to use your services, how should they get in contact with you?
“They should visit our website at www.prmia.org“
