As part of Bluewater’s Feature Friday series, where we feature one of our clients, we are happy to introduce you to the BA Group, a thriving business located in downtown Northfield.

Tell us about how your business was started. How did you get involved in the industry?

We’re excited to be celebrating our 10th year in business! The BA Group was started when I (Amy Herbig) was working for a credit union in Seattle, WA and realized the industry really needed experienced, strategic marketing support and guidance. So I branched out on my own to be a Marketing and Branding Consultant for the credit union industry.

Where do you see your business going in the future?

We see BA continuing to be an industry leader for credit union’s strategic marketing, media, branding and analytical efforts. We’re just hitting our stride and there’s nowhere to go but forward.

Why is your business located in Northfield? What about Northfield benefits your business?

Terry and I selected Northfield as the home of our family and business because of a variety of factors. The excellent schools, tight community, acceptance of transplants, the openness of the two colleges with the local residents, well-supported downtown, and the benefits of a smaller, welcoming small town with easy access to the suburbs and two major cities. Because of its location, we are able to pull talent from the southern suburbs, up to the cities. It’s also great not having to deal with things like traffic, paying for parking, lots of noise, and other negatives one would find in a more populated area.

Tell us about the space your business is located in. Is there anything you do to use the space that feels unique to your business?

Our current location is a new build out within the past 2 years. It is great to be in the heart of downtown Northfield in a good size space (approximately 2,000 square feet) with private offices, an open work area, meeting room, kitchen and break area, and private bathroom. We have what we like to call our hallway of fame where we proudly display our favorite brands and marketing efforts.

However, even though we really enjoy our space, we are growing and will be moving to a new location sometime in the fall. So we’re looking for someone to sublet!

What advice do you have for other business owners looking for a space?

Making sure there is a good feeling to a space is important. Good natural light and high ceilings as make a space feel inviting. And a space you can get creative with, really make your own is always a plus!
