As much as we want to deny it, the cold weather is here to stay for a while. Being from the north, we are raised to endure the cold, but that does not mean we like it!
We have put together a few hacks for keeping you safe and warm this winter:
Keep Your Blinds Closed
As much as you want to open your curtains to let even a little bit of light in, you are better off keeping them closed! The blinds will help keep out the cold from your windows. If we are lucky enough to have a sunny day, then, by all means, open the curtains a let the light in!
Close Your Doors
You may be thinking, no duh, but we don’t just mean your outside doors! If your office space or home has doors that can be used to close off different sections, try to keep them closed as much as possible. This way, you can bump up the heat in the rooms you are in and turn it down in places you are not.
Use a Space Heater
A space heater is a great way to warm up a small space! A few things to remember when it comes to using space heaters:
- Do not leave the heater unattended
- Make sure to keep it away from walls, furniture, and other flammable objects
- Place the heater on an even, flat surface to avoid tipping
- Locate the space heater in a non-high traffic area to prevent tripping
- Plug the space heater directly into the wall and not an extension cord
Cover the Windows
During the extremely cold snaps, another way to block chilly air coming in through the windows is to hang a blanket or plastic over them.
Snuggle Up!
Snuggle up with your loved ones, pets, a warm drink, blankie, good movie or book, and fireplace if you have one!
Winter is long and can be miserable, but with these few cold-weather hacks, we hope you stay warm this winter. Do you have any cold-weather hacks we missed?
